The author investigates the role of the writer, journalist and public activist Mykhailo Pavlyk in the creation and activity of the Rus-Ukrainian Radical party (1890–1914) – the first in Galicia legal political party which contained in its program (1895) the issue of Ukraine’s independence and had a huge impact on the activization of national life in the Dnieper area, namely on the uprising of the Revolutional Ukrainian party in Kharkiv (1900).
